Old folks at the age of 65 years old should be paid their retirement check and still be able to work at the same time. Some naysayers would say there wouldn’t be enough money in social security. That’s not true they retire at 65-years-old anyway and the money they would make would be taxed as payroll taxes and income tax. This translates to more money for Medicare, Social Security, state income tax withholding, city, county, school district taxes, state disability, and unemployment insurance. A 65-year-old would have money coming in from a job and their retirement check or whatever name the government would name this check. This new style of government check would deserve a proper name for reference in this particular situation.
62-year-old retirees could apply for this new check to get a percentage of retirement benefits and still work. The Social Security Administration accepts applications for senior citizens to retire at age 62. Also, right now a person who works and retires at 70 years old receives more money than a person who retires at 65. Someone who has early retirement at 62 years old receives benefits but not as much as 65 years old. The earliest age allowed to retire and still receive benefits is 62 years of age.
Once some old person retires they are on a fixed source of income. It’s way harder to make ends meet often times going on without the nutrition. They will end up depending on a local pantry from churches and the Salvation Army commodities. The big pharmaceutical industry has priced the medications more expensive here in the United States leaving seniors at their wit’s end.
Getting this new style of check and still working after early retirement would be an option great for Americans of retirement age. The number of Americans older than 60 years was 68.7 million in 2017. There were 314 million Americans in 2018. 314 million divided by 68.7 million is 4.62. One out of 4.62 Americans is over 60 years old. What a great incentive to keep working you would get two sources of income. Politicians need to pass these laws to give old folks the help they deserve instead of them living deprived of wealth. This would get rid of financial inequality among poor seniors. Financial inequality affects not just African-American, women, children living below the poverty line, but all races, sexes, and groups.
These ideas written above are very progressive politics. We need people on the right-wing of politics to promote this. If 1 out of 4.62 were taxed in payroll taxes and income tax we would fight the US national debt crisis. Federal debt is 17.23 trillion and intragovernmental holding is 6.02 trillion, for a total national debt of 23.3 trillion, as of February 2020. With so much income 65-year old would make they could remodel their home, sell the newly remodeled house for more, go on vacation, drive a new model care, etc.
The average Social Security benefit was $1,503 per month for the month of January 2020. The average married couple gets $2,254 in Social Security benefits. In 2019 the average household in the United States was got $89,930. These older couples still deserve their salary but they’re not getting it. They have not been given an incentive to work. This is what I’m talking about $2,254 multiplied by 12 is $27,048 plus $89,930 equals $116,978.00.
For a household of two, the minimum to be upper-class is $110,706.
I’m ready for some new politics it’s time to level the playing field. Ideas like this are how we prosper. There is nothing wrong with this idea. Go Radical new politics and progressivism!!!
